Ordering a 3D print doesn't have to be complicated. If you already have a model, placing an order takes just a few minutes. Here we walk through the whole flow, step by step, and what we need from you to print your part.
1. Prepare the file
It all starts with a 3D model. The most common format is STL, but we also accept STEP, 3MF and OBJ. Make sure the model is "watertight" — a closed surface with no holes or overlapping walls — otherwise the slicer can run into trouble.
If you design in a CAD program, exporting directly from it is easiest. Unsure about the settings? We have our own guide: Exporting STL files. No finished file? Get in touch — sometimes we can help model from a sketch or a physical sample.
2. Upload at /quote
Go to our quote page and upload your file. The system reads the geometry and shows a preview so you can confirm the right model came up. You can upload several files if you want multiple parts in the same order.
3. Choose material, quantity and settings
Now you choose how the part should be made:
- Material — PLA for simple, detailed parts, PETG for tougher functional parts, and more options for special requirements. See the full range under Materials.
- Quantity — more copies often means a lower price per unit.
- Detail and strength — layer height and infill affect finish, strength and price.
If you're unsure, pick what sounds reasonable — we always review before printing and reach out if anything should be changed.
4. We review your order
Before anything is printed, a human looks at your file. We check that the geometry is printable, that walls aren't too thin, and that support material lands in the right places. If we find something that could be better — or cheaper — we contact you first. You never pay for a print we know will fail.
5. Printing and delivery
Once everything's set, we print, do any post-processing and pack the part safely. Want clean surfaces, glued sections or painting? We can arrange it — read more about post-processing. Then the part is shipped to you.
What we need from you
For a smooth order, have the following ready:
- A 3D file (STL, STEP, 3MF or OBJ).
- An idea of material and use — what should the part withstand?
- Quantity and any requirements for tolerances or finish.
